✔️ Contraindications

Prednisolone acetate ophthalmic suspension should not be used in most viral infections of the cornea and conjunctiva, including epithelial herpes simplex keratitis (dendritic keratitis), vaccinia, and varicella. It is also contraindicated in certain mycobacterial and fungal infections of the eye and in patients with known hypersensitivity to any ingredient.

Herpes zoster eye disease requires specialist assessment; corticosteroids should not be used independently to treat it.

✔️ Possible side effects include:

• Increased intraocular pressure, which may lead to glaucoma
• Posterior subcapsular cataract formation
• Delayed corneal wound healing
• Eye irritation, redness, or discomfort
• Corneal inflammation or ulceration
• Changes in pupil size or eyelid position
• Secondary bacterial, fungal, or viral eye infections

✔️ Dosage and Administration

• Shake the bottle well before use.
• The usual recommended dosage is 1 drop into the affected eye 2–4 times daily, or as directed by an ophthalmologist.
• The frequency may be adjusted during the initial 24–48 hours depending on the severity of inflammation and the patient's response.
• Wash your hands before applying the drops.
• Avoid touching the dropper tip to the eye, fingers, or any other surface.
• Do not stop treatment prematurely or change the dosing schedule without medical advice.

Important: Use only under an ophthalmologist's supervision. Do not use this medicine for an undiagnosed red or painful eye.

Excessive topical use may increase the risk of adverse effects. If too many drops are applied, follow the product instructions or contact a healthcare professional. If accidentally swallowed, seek advice from a healthcare professional or poison information service, especially if a large amount was ingested.

✔️ Drug Interactions

Specific interaction studies have not been conducted for Cortisol Ophthalmic Suspension. Inform your healthcare professional about all other eye drops and medicines you use. If multiple eye preparations are prescribed, follow the recommended interval between applications.

✔️ Precautions and Warnings

• If symptoms do not improve within 2 days, seek medical reassessment.
• If treatment continues for 10 days or longer, intraocular pressure should be monitored regularly.
• Prolonged use can increase the risk of glaucoma, cataracts, delayed healing, and secondary infections.
• Persistent corneal ulcers during corticosteroid treatment require evaluation for possible fungal infection.
• Avoid contaminating the dropper tip.
• Seek urgent medical attention for worsening eye pain, reduced vision, marked light sensitivity, or increasing redness.

✔️ Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

There are limited controlled studies on the use of prednisolone acetate eye drops during pregnancy. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only when the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk, as determined by a healthcare professional.

✔️ Storage:

Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and freezing. Do not use beyond the period specified in the product leaflet after opening; the supplied instructions recommend discarding the bottle after one month. Keep out of the reach of children
