Bactolev 1.5% Eye Drop
Levofloxacin is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic. It exerts its antibacterial effect by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes that are essential for bacterial DNA replication, repair, transcription, and cell division. This action prevents bacterial growth and ultimately leads to bacterial cell death.
- Complete the entire course of therapy as prescribed.
- Apply gentle pressure to the inner corner of the eye for about one minute after instillation.
- Wait 5–10 minutes before using another eye medication in the same eye.
- Avoid touching the dropper tip to prevent contamination.
- Do not wear contact lenses until the infection has fully resolved.
- Discard the bottle 4 weeks after opening.
- Exercise caution when driving or operating machinery if vision becomes temporarily blurred.

Bactolev is an ophthalmic antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections of the eye, including bacterial conjunctivitis and other ocular infections. It works by eliminating susceptible bacteria and preventing the infection from spreading or worsening, thereby relieving symptoms such as redness, irritation, and discomfort.
This medicine is intended for external ophthalmic use only and should be used exactly as prescribed by a healthcare professional. Complete the full course of treatment even if symptoms improve early to ensure complete eradication of the infection.
- Wash your hands before application.
- Hold the dropper close to the eye without allowing the tip to touch the eye or surrounding surfaces.
- Instill the prescribed number of drops into the lower eyelid.
- Gently close the eye and wipe away any excess solution.
- Follow your physician’s instructions regarding dosage and duration of treatment.
- Avoid contaminating the dropper tip by touching it to the eye, fingers, or any surface.
- Use cautiously in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to quinolone antibiotics.
- Temporary blurred vision may occur after application; avoid driving or operating machinery until vision clears.
- Contact lenses should not be worn during an active eye infection.
- Use with caution during breastfeeding, as the drug may be excreted into breast milk.

Bacterial Conjunctivitis
- Days 1–2: Instill 1–2 drops into the affected eye(s) every 2 hours while awake, up to 8 times daily.
- Days 3–7: Instill 1–2 drops every 4 hours while awake, up to 4 times daily.
Children
- 1 year and older: Same dosage as adults.
- Under 1 year: Dosage and use should be determined by a physician.
Missed Dose
If a dose is missed, administer it as soon as remembered. If it is nearly time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue the regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one.

- Known hypersensitivity to levofloxacin
- Allergy to quinolone antibiotics
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation

- Didanosine
- Mineral supplements containing zinc, calcium, magnesium, or iron
- Antidiabetic medications, potentially affecting blood glucose levels
- Corticosteroids, which may increase the risk of tendon-related disorders
- NSAIDs, which may increase the risk of central nervous system stimulation and seizures
- Warfarin, which may increase prothrombin time and bleeding risk
