Nalbuphine Hydrochloride (Nalbun) is a synthetic opioid analgesic that binds to mu, kappa, and delta receptors, excluding sigma receptors. Its analgesic potency is equivalent to morphine on a milligram basis and is 10 times more potent than pentazocine, but with lower side effects and less abuse potential. The onset of action is 2 to 3 minutes after intravenous administration and less than 15 minutes following intramuscular injection. The plasma half-life is 5 hours, and the duration of analgesic activity ranges from 3 to 6 hours.
You are advised not to take alcohol with Nalbuphine as it might cause increased sedation and respiratory depression.
Nalbuphine is not recommended for use during pregnancy unless absolutely indicated. Please consult your doctor if you have any concerns.
Nalbuphine should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Please consult your doctor if you have any concerns.
