✔️ Side Effects of Dilidex Dry Cough Syrup

⚠ Possible side effects include:

• Drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, vomiting
• Gastrointestinal disturbances
• Dry mouth, nose, and throat
• Blurred vision
• Difficulty in urination

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Dilidex Dry Cough Syrup

✔ Adults & children (12+ years):

• 2 teaspoonfuls (10 ml) 4 times daily or as directed by a physician.
• Do not exceed 8 teaspoonfuls (40 ml) in 24 hours.

🚫 Use in Children & Adolescents:

• The safety and efficacy of Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide in pediatric patients and adolescents have not been established.

✔️ Do not use Dilidex Dry Cough Syrup if the patient:

• Has a known allergy to any component of the syrup.
• Is taking or has taken MAO inhibitors in the past 2 weeks.
• Is at risk of respiratory failure.

✔️ Drug Interactions

⚠ CNS Depressants & Alcohol:

• Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride may enhance the effects of alcohol and other CNS depressants.

⚠ Anticholinergic Drugs (e.g., psychotropic drugs, atropine):

• May increase side effects such as tachycardia, dry mouth, colic, urinary retention, and headache.

⚠ Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs):

• Concurrent use with Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide may cause hyperpyrexia, hallucinations, excitation, or coma.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

✔ Pregnancy:

• Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride and Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide have been used for years without apparent harm.
• However, data on Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide during pregnancy is limited.

✔ Lactation:

• Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride crosses the placenta and is detected in breast milk.
• It is unknown whether Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is excreted in breast milk.
• Use only if the potential benefits outweigh the risks to the fetus or infant.

✔️ Overdose Effects of Dilidex Dry Cough Syrup

🚨 Symptoms of overdose may include:

• Hallucinations, convulsions, coma, or cardiovascular collapse (especially in children).

🚑 Management of overdose:
✔ Rapid gastric emptying may help.
✔ Activated charcoal may be useful for acute poisoning.
✔ Naloxone can be used to counteract dextromethorphan toxicity in children.
✔ Diazepam or thiopental sodium may help control convulsions.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

⚠ May cause drowsiness—Avoid driving or operating machinery.
⚠ Use with caution in patients with:

• Narrow-angle glaucoma
• Symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy
• History of drug abuse or psychoactive substance use

🚨 Adolescents & Young Adults:

• Higher risk of misuse/abuse due to psychoactive effects.
