✔️ Dosage & Administration

Adults and adolescents ≥16 years:

• Osteoarthritis: 30 mg once daily (may increase to 60 mg if needed)
• Rheumatoid Arthritis & Ankylosing Spondylitis: 90 mg once daily
• Acute Gouty Arthritis: 120 mg once daily (for up to 8 days)
• Postoperative Dental Pain: 90 mg once daily (max 3 days)

Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration to reduce cardiovascular risk.

✔️ Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to etoricoxib or NSAIDs
• Active peptic ulcers or GI bleeding
• Severe hepatic or renal impairment
• Heart failure (NYHA II-IV)
• Uncontrolled hypertension (>140/90 mmHg)
• Ischemic heart disease, stroke, or peripheral arterial disease
• Children under 16 years
• Inflammatory bowel disease

✔️ Side Effects

• Dizziness, fatigue, palpitations
• Influenza-like symptoms
• Dry mouth, taste disturbances
• Muscle or joint pain
• Edema, epistaxis
• Atrial fibrillation
• Confusion, hallucinations
• GI bleeding, liver enzyme elevation

✔️ Drug Interactions

• Warfarin: May prolong prothrombin time
• Diuretics/ACE inhibitors/ARBs: May reduce antihypertensive effect
• Lithium: Levels may increase
• NSAIDs or cyclosporine/tacrolimus: May raise risk of renal toxicity
• Can be used with low-dose aspirin for cardiac protection
• Food does not affect absorption

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding

Not recommended for women trying to conceive

Etoricoxib is excreted in rat milk; human data are unknown

✔️ Overdose Management

• Doses up to 150 mg/day (for 21 days) or single 500 mg doses showed no major toxicity
• Manage with supportive care, gastric decontamination, and monitoring

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Monitor blood pressure regularly, especially in the first two weeks
• Avoid in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, heart failure, or active GI bleeding
• Use with caution in patients with renal, hepatic, or cardiovascular disease
• Monitor liver function during long-term use
• Discontinue if rash, hypersensitivity, or liver dysfunction occurs
• May mask fever and inflammation
• Avoid alcohol due to the risk of increased drowsiness
