✅ Description:
Arodin contains Povidone-Iodine, a broad-spectrum antiseptic used in different formulations for the prevention and treatment of infections of the skin, wounds, mucous membranes, and other affected areas.
- Prevention of microbial contamination of burns, surgical incisions, and other skin lesions
- Antiseptic preparation of skin in selected medical procedures
- Prevention of infection in abrasions, minor cuts, and superficial wounds
- Support of normal wound healing by reducing microbial contamination
- Mouth and throat before certain procedures
Povidone-Iodine is a complex of iodine and povidone, a water-soluble polymer. The complex gradually releases free iodine, which provides broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity while generally causing less irritation than elemental iodine.
Free iodine rapidly inactivates microorganisms by disrupting cellular proteins and other essential structures. Povidone-Iodine is active against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, fungi, yeasts, viruses, protozoa, and spores.
Its antimicrobial activity can remain effective in the presence of substances such as blood, serum, pus, mucosal secretions, and water.

✔️ Povidone-Iodine may interact chemically with:
- Strong alkalis
- Sodium thiosulfate
- Sodium metabisulfite
- Thiomersal
Regular or prolonged use in patients receiving lithium may increase the risk of thyroid dysfunction because of iodine exposure.

- Skin irritation
- Irritation of mucous membranes
- Redness or discomfort
- Hypersensitivity reactions
- Consult a physician before treating deep puncture wounds or serious burns.
- Discontinue use and seek medical advice if redness, swelling, irritation, pain, or infection persists or worsens.
✔️ Contraindications
Arodin should not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to povidone-iodine or any component of the formulation.
Regular or prolonged use should generally be avoided or carefully supervised in patients with:
- Thyroid disorders, particularly nodular or endemic goitre and Hashimoto's thyroiditis
- Concurrent lithium therapy
- Significant renal impairment, particularly when extensive or repeated application is required
