Turboclav 500mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Cefixime and Clavulanic Acid. Cefixime is an antibiotic. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefixime against bacteria.

Turboclav 500mg Tablet is a combination antibiotic containing Cefuroxime and Clavulanic Acid. It is used to treat various bacterial infections by preventing the growth and spread of bacteria.

✔️ Pharmacology

• Cefuroxime: A second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by interfering with the transpeptidation process, making it effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including beta-lactamase-producing strains.
• Clavulanic Acid: A beta-lactamase inhibitor that protects Cefuroxime from degradation by beta-lactamase enzymes, thereby extending its spectrum of activity.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Turboclav 500mg Tablet

Adults and Adolescents (13 years and older):

• Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis: 250 mg twice daily for 5-10 days
• Acute Bacterial Maxillary Sinusitis: 250 mg twice daily for 10 days
• Acute Bacterial Exacerbation of Chronic Bronchitis: 250-500 mg twice daily for 10 days
• Secondary Bacterial Infections of Acute Bronchitis: 250-500 mg twice daily for 5-10 days
• Uncomplicated Skin and Skin-Structure Infections: 250-500 mg twice daily for 10 days
• Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections: 250 mg twice daily for 7-10 days
• Uncomplicated Gonorrhea: 1000 mg single dose
• Community-Acquired Pneumonia: 250-500 mg twice daily for 5-10 days
• MDR Typhoid Fever: 500 mg twice daily for 10-14 days
• Early Lyme Disease: 500 mg twice daily for 20 days

Children (3 months to 12 years):

• Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis: 20 mg/kg/day in two divided doses for 5-10 days
• Acute Otitis Media: 30 mg/kg/day in two divided doses for 10 days
• Acute Bacterial Maxillary Sinusitis: 30 mg/kg/day in two divided doses for 10 days
• Community-Acquired Pneumonia: 30 mg/kg/day in two divided doses for 5-10 days
• MDR Typhoid Fever: 30 mg/kg/day in two divided doses for 10-14 days
• Uncomplicated Skin and Skin-Structure Infections: 30 mg/kg/day in two divided doses for 10 days
• Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections: 20 mg/kg/day in two divided doses for 7-10 days

• Probenecid: Increases serum concentration of Cefuroxime.
• Gastric Acid-Reducing Drugs: May lower bioavailability of Cefuroxime.
• Oral Contraceptives (OCs): May reduce efficacy; use additional contraception.
• Strong-acting Diuretics and Aminoglycosides: May enhance nephrotoxic effects.
• Oral Anticoagulants: May enhance effects.

• Known allergy to cephalosporins.
• Patients with Pseudomembranous Colitis.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

• Should be avoided in the first trimester if possible. Can be safely used in later pregnancy to treat urinary and other infections.
• Excreted in small quantities into breast milk. The potential for sensitizing the infant should be considered.
