✔️ How does Nobac Tablet work?

It works by stopping the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This prevents the bacterial cells from dividing and repairing, thereby killing them.

✔️ Side Effects of Nobac Tablet

• Gastrointestinal disturbances: Epigastric pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia.
• Central nervous system disturbances: Headache, insomnia.
• Hypersensitivity reactions: Skin rash, pruritus, photosensitization.
• Others: Myalgia, arthralgia, tendonitis, Achilles tendon rupture.

✔️ Quick Suggestions:

• Do not skip any doses and finish the full course of treatment even if you feel better.
• Discontinue Nobac and inform your doctor immediately if you get a rash, itchy skin, swelling of your face and mouth, or difficulty in breathing.
• Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should stop when your course is complete. Inform your doctor if it doesn't stop or if you find blood in your stools.
• Notify your doctor if you feel pain in your tendons, numbness, or tingling sensations.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to conceive or breastfeeding.

✔️ Pharmacology

Nobac contains pefloxacin, a synthetic fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent. It inhibits the subunit-A of DNA gyrase (Topoisomerase II), exhibiting bactericidal action with a broad spectrum of activity.

✔️ Dosage & Administration of Nobac

• Adults with normal hepatic function: 400 mg tablet every 12 hours with meals. An initial loading dose of 800 mg may be given.
• Adults with hepatic insufficiency: Adjust dosage by increasing intervals between doses. No dosage reduction is needed for renal insufficiency.
• Duration of treatment:
  • Typically 5 to 10 days.
  • Chronic prostatitis, cystic fibrosis, chronic Salmonella carriers: 14 days.
  • Endocarditis: Up to 6 months.
  • Chronic osteomyelitis: Up to 1 year.
  • Gonorrhea: Single dose of 2 tablets.

✔️ Interaction

Avoid concurrent administration with antacids containing aluminum and magnesium hydroxide gel, as they reduce the absorption of Nobac.

✔️ Nobac is contraindicated in patients with:

• Hypersensitivity to quinolones
• Children under 15 years
• Pregnant and lactating women
• Inborn glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency
• History of tendon lesion, tendonitis, or tendon rupture
