✔️ Dosage and Administration

Oral Dosage:

🔹 Adults – 250 mg four times daily; may be doubled for severe infections. In osteomyelitis and endocarditis, doses up to 8 g per day may be used in 6–8 hour intervals.
🔹 Children (2-10 years) – Half the adult dose.
🔹 Children (under 2 years) – Quarter of the adult dose.

✔ Severe renal impairment (Creatinine clearance <10 ml/min) – Requires dose adjustment or extended dosing intervals.

Parenteral Dosage:

🔹 Adults & Elderly:

• Intramuscular injection – 250 mg four times daily.
• Intravenous injection – 250 mg to 1 g four times daily (slow IV over 3–4 minutes or via infusion).
• For severe infections – Dosages may be doubled (up to 8 g per day in endocarditis or osteomyelitis).

🔹 Children:

• 2-10 years – Half of the adult dose.
• Under 2 years – Quarter of the adult dose.

💊 Oral doses should be taken 1 hour before meals.
🔹 Use only as directed by a registered physician.

✔️ Drug Interactions

Concurrent use of Flupen with certain medications may lead to prolonged elevated levels in the bloodstream. Always consult a doctor before combining it with other medicines.

✔️ Contraindications

❌ Not suitable for individuals allergic to penicillin.

✔️ Flupen may cause mild to moderate side effects, including:

✔ Gastrointestinal issues – nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, dyspepsia, and minor stomach discomfort.
✔ Allergic reactions – rashes, urticaria, purpura, and fever.
✔ Other complications – interstitial nephritis, hepatitis, and cholestatic jaundice.

✔️ Use During Pregnancy & Lactation

✔ Pregnancy Category B (US FDA): No confirmed risks in human studies, but should be used only if necessary during pregnancy.
✔ Excretion in breast milk: Flucloxacillin is present in human milk, so caution is advised for breastfeeding mothers.
