✔️ Each tablet contains:

• Furosemide 20 mg
• Spironolactone 50 mg

Adults typically take 1 to 4 tablets daily, depending on the doctor's recommendation.

✔️ Possible Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Fluid and electrolyte disturbances
• Nausea or diarrhea
• Blurred vision
• Headache
• Dizziness
• Low blood pressure
• Increased sensitivity to sunlight
• Liver function abnormalities
• Increased blood sugar and glucose in urine

Less common side effects:

• Bone marrow suppression
• Breast enlargement in males (gynecomastia)
• Excess hair growth
• Hoarseness of voice
• Menstrual irregularities
• Reduced sexual desire
• Erectile dysfunction

Serious complications may include:

• Severe hyperkalemia (high potassium)
• Dangerous heart rhythm abnormalities

✔️ Edemide should not be used in patients with:

• Allergy to any ingredient in the medicine
• No urine production (anuria) or severe reduction in urine output
• Low blood volume (hypovolemia)
• Low sodium levels (hyponatremia)
• Low blood pressure
• Urinary retention due to enlarged prostate
• Addison's disease
• Significant kidney impairment
• High potassium levels (hyperkalemia)
• Severe or acute liver failure

It is generally not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding.

✔️ Drug Interactions

Furosemide Interactions

• Aminoglycosides and ethacrynic acid: Increased risk of hearing damage.
• Sucralfate: Reduces furosemide absorption; administer at least 2 hours apart.
• NSAIDs: May reduce its blood pressure-lowering and diuretic effects.
• Corticosteroids: Can oppose its therapeutic action.
• Digoxin: Blood levels may increase.
• Warfarin: Effects may be reduced.

Potentially dangerous interactions:

• Potassium supplements or high-potassium diets
• ACE inhibitors
• General anesthetics
• Lithium (risk of lithium toxicity)

Spironolactone Interactions

• Aspirin: May reduce its sodium-removing effect.
• Carbenoxolone: May reduce ulcer-healing benefits.
• NSAIDs and ciclosporin: Increased risk of kidney toxicity.
• Potassium supplements, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, NSAIDs, ciclosporin, or trilostane: Increased risk of hyperkalemia.
• Alcohol, narcotics, and barbiturates: Increased risk of postural (orthostatic) hypotension.
• May increase digoxin's half-life and reduce responsiveness to certain blood pressure-raising medications.

Potentially dangerous interaction:

• Concurrent use with lithium may significantly increase the risk of lithium toxicity.

✔️ Use cautiously in patients:

• Taking ACE inhibitors
• At risk of electrolyte imbalance
• With changing potassium levels
• Undergoing general anesthesia

Regular monitoring of fluid balance and blood electrolytes is recommended, especially potassium and sodium levels.
