Lidocaine produces its local anesthetic effect by blocking sodium ion movement through voltage-gated sodium channels in nerve cell membranes. This action prevents the initiation and transmission of nerve impulses, resulting in loss of sensation. Lidocaine binds more effectively to activated sodium channels, allowing faster onset of nerve blockade in rapidly firing neurons—an effect known as state-dependent blockade.

Jasocaine is a topical local anesthetic used to reduce pain and discomfort in various clinical settings, including:
Relief of pain during minor surgical procedures involving the ear, nose, and throat
Minimizing discomfort during dental procedures, such as prior to local anesthetic injections
Suppression of coughing during general anesthesia
Pain relief during the late stages of childbirth, including procedures involving incision or suturing of the perineum
Each spray delivers 10 mg of lidocaine. The maximum recommended dose is 20 sprays (200 mg).
Dental procedures: Typically 1–5 sprays. Two sprays per quadrant of the mouth are recommended, with a maximum of three sprays per quadrant within 30 minutes.
Sinus procedures: Usually 3 sprays are sufficient.
Throat and tracheal procedures: Up to 20 sprays may be required.
Childbirth (including cesarean procedures): Up to 20 sprays may be used if necessary.
Children (3–12 years): Reduced doses should be used as advised by a physician.
Children under 3 years: Lidocaine 10% spray is not recommended.
Pregnancy: Adequate clinical studies are lacking. Use during pregnancy should be based on the physician’s assessment of benefit versus risk.
Lactation: Small amounts of lidocaine may pass into breast milk; however, this is generally considered too minimal to cause harm to the nursing infant.
Avoid driving or operating machinery after use, as drowsiness and slowed reflexes may occur.
Do not eat or drink for at least one hour after application to the mouth or throat to prevent choking or injury.
Avoid contact with the eyes. If accidental eye exposure occurs, rinse immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice.
Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
