✔️ Dosage and Administration of Retigel 0.05% Topical Gel

• Apply Isotretinoin 0.05% gel sparingly to the affected areas once or twice daily.
• Patients should be informed that it may take 6–8 weeks to observe a therapeutic effect.
• The safety and efficacy of this medication in children have not been established, as acne vulgaris is rare in this age group.
• There are no specific dosage adjustments for elderly patients, as acne vulgaris typically does not occur in this population.

✔️ Overdose Effects of Retigel 0.05% Topical Gel

• Overdose has not been reported with Retigel. However, accidental ingestion could lead to symptoms of hypervitaminosis A, including severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, irritability, and itching.

✔️ Side Effects of Retigel 0.05% Topical Gel

• Common side effects include stinging, burning, or irritation at the application site.
• Erythema and peeling may occur.
• If excessive irritation develops, temporarily stop using the gel and resume once symptoms subside. If irritation persists, discontinue use altogether.

✔️ Drug Interactions

• Use caution when combining Retigel with other topical medications.
• Special care is needed when using products containing peeling agents (e.g., benzoyl peroxide) or abrasive cleansers.

✔️ Contraindications

Not suitable for patients with a known hypersensitivity to isotretinoin.

• Pregnancy Category B: Although systemic isotretinoin is linked to teratogenicity, percutaneous absorption from the gel is negligible. However, due to limited safety data, its use should be avoided during pregnancy.
• It is unclear if isotretinoin is excreted in human milk; therefore, it is not recommended during lactation.

✔️ Precautions and Warnings

• Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, mucous membranes, and broken or eczema-affected skin.
• Do not let the gel accumulate in skin folds or sensitive areas (e.g., neck, nasal creases).
• Protect treated areas from sunlight by using sunscreen and wearing protective clothing.
• Do not use this product on sunburned skin or while using tanning lamps.
• Patients with a history of cutaneous tumors should use Retigel cautiously.
