KP Isonikhut-20 contains isotretinoin, a retinoid medicine related to vitamin A. It is mainly prescribed for severe acne that does not improve with conventional treatments such as antibiotics or topical therapies. The medicine helps reduce excessive oil production, controls acne-causing bacteria, and decreases skin inflammation.

KP Isonikhut-20 should be taken exactly as directed by a physician. It is recommended to take the capsule with food at the same time every day for better absorption and consistent results. Improvement may take several weeks, so regular use is important. Taking higher doses or using it more frequently than prescribed will not speed up recovery and may increase the risk of side effects.

Avoid excessive sunlight and UV exposure; use sunscreen and protective clothing.
Avoid waxing, dermabrasion, or laser treatments during therapy and for at least 6 months after stopping treatment.
Monitor liver function tests and lipid levels regularly.
Use cautiously in patients with diabetes, obesity, alcoholism, or hypertriglyceridemia.
May cause dizziness or impaired night vision; avoid driving if affected.
Patients should not donate blood during treatment and for at least 1 month after discontinuation.
Inform your doctor immediately if you experience abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, severe diarrhea, hearing problems, or vision changes.

Adult Dose

For severe nodular acne unresponsive to standard therapy:

Recommended dose: 0.5–1 mg/kg/day orally in two divided doses for 15–20 weeks.
In very severe cases with scarring or trunk involvement, the dose may be increased up to 2 mg/kg/day if tolerated.

Pediatric Dose

Below 12 years: Safety and effectiveness are not established.
Above 12 years: 0.5–1 mg/kg/day in divided doses for 15–20 weeks.

Renal Impairment

Severe renal impairment: Start with a reduced dose, such as 10 mg daily, and gradually increase as needed.

Hepatic Impairment

Contraindicated in hepatic impairment.

Administration Advice

Swallow the capsule whole with food.
Do not crush, chew, or break the capsule.

Vitamin A supplements or retinoids may increase toxicity.
Tetracycline antibiotics may increase the risk of pseudotumor cerebri.
Phenytoin and systemic corticosteroids may increase the risk of bone loss.
Carbamazepine levels may decrease.
Progesterone-only contraceptives may become less effective.
