Acne vulgaris (commonly known as acne) is an inflammatory skin condition that occurs when the hair follicles present in the skin are clogged with excess oil and/or dead skin cells. It can also be aggravated by a few bacteria (such as Propionibacterium acnes) and is highly common among teenagers and young adults.
ADAGEL 0.1%+2.5% Plus Gel is a combination of Adapalene and Benzoyl peroxide which belongs to the group of medicines called Antiacne agents. It is used in the management of acne.
It primarily affects the face, upper arms, trunk, or back and is often characterized by pus-filled pimples and red bumps with inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesions. ADAGEL 0.1%+2.5% Plus Gel is suitable for use both in adults and in children (aged 9 years or older).
Apply a thin layer of ADAGEL 0.1%+2.5% Plus Gel on the affected skin areas. Avoid contact with this medicine with your eyes, mouth, ears, nose, or with open wounds. You must also protect your skin against sunlight and other light sources (such as UV lamps).

ADAGEL Plus Gel is a combination of two medicines: Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxide, which treat acne (pimples). Adapalene is a form of vitamin A and Benzoyl Peroxide is a keratolytic medicine. Together, they prevent the accumulation of sebum (skin’s natural oil), unblock the pores, and allow natural exfoliation of the outer layers of the skin. Benzoyl Peroxide additionally penetrates the skin and kills acne-causing bacteria.
Common side effects include erythema, scaling, dryness, stinging, and burning. Other reported adverse events are dry skin, contact dermatitis, application site burning, irritation, and skin irritation.
Adapalene & Benzoyl Peroxide Gel is used for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris in patients aged 12 and older.
Adapalene in the gel binds to specific retinoic acid nuclear receptors, influencing cellular differentiation, keratinization, and inflammatory processes. It normalizes follicular epithelial cell differentiation, reducing microcomedone formation. Benzoyl Peroxide is an oxidizing agent with bactericidal and keratolytic effects.
Apply a thin layer of Adapalene & Benzoyl Peroxide Gel to affected areas of the face and/or trunk once daily after washing. Use a pea-sized amount for each part of the face (e.g., forehead, chin, each cheek). Avoid contact with eyes, lips, and mucous membranes. This gel is not intended for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use.
Pediatric Use: Safety and effectiveness in children under 12 years have not been established.
Caution is advised when using other topical acne treatments simultaneously due to potential cumulative irritant effects, particularly with peeling, desquamating, or abrasive agents. No formal drug-drug interaction studies have been conducted.
ADAGEL 0.1%+2.5% Plus Gel should not be used by individuals with known hypersensitivity to any of its components.
There are no well-controlled studies of Adapalene and Benzoyl Peroxide use in pregnant women. Animal studies have not been conducted with this combination. Therefore, use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. It is unknown if Adapalene or Benzoyl Peroxide is excreted in human milk. Use caution when administering to nursing women.
Avoid exposure to sunlight and sunlamps. Use sunscreen if sun exposure is unavoidable.
Store in a cool place (below 25°C), away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children and ensure the tube is tightly closed after use.
