✔️ Imeglimin works through a dual mechanism that targets both insulin secretion and insulin action:

Amplification of Glucose-Stimulated Insulin Secretion (GSIS) and preservation of β-cell mass: Imeglimin enhances the pancreas’s ability to secrete insulin in response to glucose and helps preserve the β-cells, which are critical for insulin production.

Enhanced Insulin Action: It improves the body’s insulin sensitivity, particularly in the liver and skeletal muscles. Imeglimin may also inhibit the liver's glucose output, helping to regulate blood sugar levels more effectively.

On a cellular and molecular level, Imeglimin corrects mitochondrial dysfunction, which is a key factor in the development of Type 2 Diabetes (T2D). Mitochondria play an essential role in energy production and cell function, and dysfunction in these structures can impair insulin action. Imeglimin works by:
