Indications

It's used to prevent iron deficiency, especially when a poor diet necessitates supplemental zinc and iron during pregnancy and anemia.

Pharmacology

A combination of three dietary supplements, Ferrous Ascorbate, Folic Acid, and Zinc, is Ferrous Ascorbate, Folic Acid, and Zinc. Iron and vitamin C are combined in ferrous ascorbate. Iron replaces your body's iron stores and treats iron deficiency anemia. Vitamin C (ascorbate) is given to help the body absorb iron more effectively. Vitamin B in the form of folic acid. It is necessary for the development of red blood cells, which transport oxygen throughout the body. It's particularly important during pregnancy since it helps the unborn baby's brain and spinal cord develop. Zinc is a micromineral that aids in the absorption of nutrients.

Dosage & Administration

Adult & Elderly: One tablet a day before or after a meal (food-independent absorption) or as directed by the physician. In more severe cases, two tablets a day may be required as prescribed by the physician.

Pediatric patients: Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established.

Interaction

Iron chelates with tetracycline. Since oral iron products interfere with the absorption of oral tetracycline antibiotics, these products should not be taken within two hours of each other. Occasional gastrointestinal discomfort may be minimized by taking it with meals. Absorption of iron may be impaired by concurrent administrations of penicillamine and antacid. In patients with renal failure, a risk of zinc accumulation may exist.

Contraindications

It is contraindicated in patients with hemolytic anemia and in conditions with increased hypersensitivity to any of its components and increased body iron content

Side Effects

Iron, folic acid, and zinc supplementation have minor and temporary side effects. 

• Epigastric pain,
• nausea,
• constipation,
• vomiting, diarrhea,

and heartburn are just a few of the symptoms. Both oral and parenteral administration of folic acid has been linked to allergic sensitivity.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Please consult your doctor before taking or continuing the medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are already breastfeeding. Unless there is clear evidence of iron shortage, administration during the first trimester of pregnancy should be avoided. During the remainder of the pregnancy, prophylaxis for iron insufficiency is indicated, especially if zinc supplementation is required.

Precautions & Warnings

Patients with hemochromatosis, hemolytic anemia, or red cell aplasia who are at risk of iron excess should be monitored closely. Failure to respond to treatment may indicate the presence of additional causes of anemia, which should be examined further.

Storage Conditions

Do not store at temperatures above 30°C. Keep out of children's reach.
