This medication lubricates the eye's surface, similar to natural tears, providing relief for dryness and pain due to reduced or abnormal tear production. Hypromellose stabilizes and thickens the precorneal tear film, prolonging tear film breakup time and promoting corneal wetting. It also lubricates and protects the eye.
