Papaya leaves are considered non-toxic as their lethal dose is >15 g/body weight.
A preclinical study on rats showed that papaya leaf powder showed promising efficacy in increasing blood platelets. Recent in-vitro (laboratory) studies have shown that Carica papaya leaf extract significantly inhibits hemolysis through its membrane-stabilizing ability.
The recommended dose of Carica Papaya Leaf Extract 250 mg capsules is 1-2 capsules daily 2-3 times a day for 5-12 days.

For example, Penicillin G, Ampicillin, Amoxiclav, Cephalathin, Polymyxin B, Rifampicin, Amikacin, Nalidixic acid, Gentamicin, Chloramphenicol, Ofloxacin increases the effectiveness of the mentioned antibiotics. Carica papaya leaf extract and antimicrobial agents when taken together show synergistic action against microbes.

Caution should be exercised in users of blood thinning medications such as aspirin and warfarin.
