Rocal Jr 250mg Chewable Tablet

✔️ Rocal Jr 250 mg / 500 mg Tablet

• As an antacid (Adults): 540–2000 mg of calcium carbonate daily in divided doses.
• Children generally receive half the adult dose.
• Calcium supplementation / Osteoporosis prevention: 1250–3750 mg calcium carbonate daily (equivalent to 500–1500 mg elemental calcium), adjusted according to individual clinical needs such as calcium deficiency, malabsorption, or parathyroid disorders.
• Pregnancy & Lactation: A total daily calcium intake of 1200–1500 mg is generally recommended.
• Chronic renal failure: 2.5–9 g calcium carbonate daily, with dosage individualized according to serum calcium and phosphate levels. For effective phosphate binding, the tablets should be taken with meals.

Children:
Rocal Jr has been extensively evaluated in infants and children with chronic renal disease and has demonstrated a favourable safety and efficacy profile.

Elderly:
Older adults, particularly those with renal impairment, may be more susceptible to constipation. Regular monitoring of serum calcium and phosphate levels is recommended in this population.

✔️ Rocal Jr 1000 mg Tablet

• For relief of acid-related symptoms, 2000–3000 mg may be taken when symptoms occur. The dose may be repeated every hour if necessary or as directed by the physician.

✔️ Rocal Jr is generally well tolerated. Possible adverse effects include:

• Gastrointestinal irritation
• Constipation
• Hypercalcaemia (rare, but more likely with high doses, particularly in patients with chronic renal impairment)

✔️ Rocal Jr should not be used in patients with:

• Hypercalcaemia or hyperparathyroidism
• Hypercalciuria or kidney stones (nephrolithiasis)
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
• Patients receiving digoxin therapy without careful monitoring of serum calcium levels

Calcium salts should also be used cautiously in individuals with sarcoidosis, renal impairment, cardiac disease, or those receiving cardiac glycosides.

✔️ Drug Interactions

• Calcium carbonate may increase the cardiac effects of digoxin and other cardiac glycosides if hypercalcaemia develops.
• It can reduce the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics, so these medicines should be taken at different times.
• In patients with chronic kidney disease, vitamin D therapy may require dose adjustment to prevent hypercalcaemia when calcium carbonate is used as a phosphate binder.

✔️ Storage:

Store below room temperature in a cool, dry place, protected from moisture and excessive heat. Keep out of the reach of children.
