Optimox 400mg Tablet stops the action of a bacterial enzyme called DNA-gyrase. This helps to prevent the growth of the bacteria and eventually kills them.

Topoisomerase II (DNA gyrase) and topoisomerase IV, which are essential for bacterial DNA replication, translation, and repair, are repressed as part of their action.

The dosing instructions for Optimox 400mg Tablet for different infections are as follows:

• Acute bacterial sinusitis: 400 mg once daily for 7-10 days.
• Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis: 400 mg once daily for 5-10 days.
• Community-acquired pneumonia: 400 mg once daily for 7-14 days.
• Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections: 400 mg once daily for 7 days.
• Complicated skin and skin structure infections: 400 mg once daily for 7-21 days.
• Complicated intra-abdominal infections: 400 mg once daily for 5-14 days.
• Pelvic inflammatory disease: 400 mg once daily for 14 days.

Drug-Drug Interaction: Optimox 400mg Tablet 5's may interact with antacids (sucralfate), anti-HIV drugs (didanosine), minerals (iron, zinc, magnesium), antibiotics (azithromycin), insulin or any of its form, lithium, anti-depressants (escitalopram), schizophrenic drugs (risperidone), and blood thinner (warfarin).

Drug-Food Interaction: Optimox 400mg Tablet 5's may interact with vitamins, minerals, herbal products, and drugs. Avoid calcium-enriched foods, fortified juices, and dairy products during treatment with Optimox 400mg Tablet 5's.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Inform your doctor if you have abnormal heart rhythm on ECG, diabetes, myasthenia gravis, low potassium or magnesium in the blood, slow heart rhythm (bradycardia), heart failure, lupus, or severe liver diseases.
