Indications
The sterile ophthalmic preparation of sodium hyaluronate 0.1 percent is used to treat all forms of dry eye and post-surgical lubrication. Severe and chronic dry eye is treated with sodium hyaluronate 0.2 percent sterile ophthalmic solution, including after surgery. For contact lens wearers who experience dry eye, both intensities are advised.
Sodium hyaluronate eye drops offer extensive and long-lasting moisturizing for severe cases of dry eyes. The drops' thick, viscous consistency makes them suitable for treating severe and persistent eye conditions. They are also particularly well suited to aiding in the recovery of the eyes after surgery. Certain disorders can be treated with sodium hyaluronate lubricating eye drops due to their therapeutic properties. In some circumstances, a doctor may prescribe them, and health insurance funds may pay the associated costs. Preservatives and phosphates are absent from sodium hyaluronate eye drops, which also contain the substance hyaluronan. Because of this, lubricating eye drops containing sodium hyaluronate are very well tolerated.
Pharmacology
A polysaccharide known as sodium hyaluronate serves as a lubricant in the body's tissues. In ocular surgery, it can be used as a substitute for aqueous and vitreous humor because it creates a viscoelastic solution in water.
Dosage & Administration
- Adult: Instill 1 drop 3 times daily. If necessary this can be increased or as directed by a physician.
- Use in children: There is no known experience with patients under 18 years old.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients is known.
Side Effects
Burning sensation, temporary clouded vision, and a brief increase in intraocular pressure. Precautions: To prevent contamination, the container's tip should not come into contact with any surface and should be completely closed between applications.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Category B pregnancy. There has been no evidence of a risk in reproductive research, but there are no controlled investigations on pregnant women. Because sodium hyaluronate has a purely physical effect on the eyes and is not absorbed, it is safe to use throughout pregnancy and lactation.
Storage Conditions
Keep the temperature below 30°C and away from light and moisture. Keep out of children's reach.
