How Anadol 50 works

Anadol 50 is an opioid analgesic (pain reliever) that works by blocking the transmission of pain signals to the brain to lower pain perception.

What if you forget to take Anadol 50?

If you miss a dose of Anadol 50, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Pharmacology

The activation of mu-opioid receptors and indirect control of central monoaminergic inhibitory pathways by tramadol result in its analgesic effects.

Dosage & Administration of Anadol 50

Anadol Capsule: 

• 50 to 100 mg every four to six hours is the usual dose.
• An initial dose of 100 mg is required for acute pain.
• A starting dose of 50 mg is recommended for chronic pain conditions.
• Subsequent doses should be 50-100 mg every 4-6 hours.
• The dose level and frequency of administration will be determined by the severity of the pain.
• The total daily oral dosage should not exceed 400 mg.

Interaction

In general, physicians should not be concerned about Tramadol interactions. Monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors are the only drug class that should not be combined with Tramadol. Concurrent administration of carbamazepine and Tramadol causes a significant increase in Tramadol metabolism, necessitating an increase in Tramadol dose.

Contraindications

Tramadol is not recommended for patients who are allergic to it. It is also contraindicated in acute alcohol, hypnotic, centrally acting analgesics, opioids, or psychotropic drug intoxication.

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Tramadol's safety in pregnancy has not been established. It has been demonstrated that tramadol crosses the placenta.
• There are no adequate and well-controlled pregnancy studies.
• As a result, Tramadol should only be used during pregnancy if the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus.
• Tramadol Hydrochloride should not be given to a nursing mother because Tramadol and its metabolites have been found in breast milk.

• Opioid Dependence: Tramadol is not recommended for patients who are opioid dependent.
• Concomitant CNS Depressants: When administered to patients receiving CNS depressants such as alcohol, opioids, anesthetic agents, phenothiazines, tranquilizers, or sedative hypnotics, tramadol should be used with caution and in lower doses.
• Tramadol should be used with extreme caution in patients taking MAO inhibitors because tramadol inhibits the uptake of norepinephrine and serotonin.
• Tramadol should be used with caution in patients with high intracranial pressure, head injury, or acute abdominal pain.
