Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a molecule involved in transmitting and amplifying pain signals during migraine attacks. Its levels may increase during an attack, contributing to the development and persistence of migraine pain.
Rimegepant blocks CGRP receptors, preventing CGRP from activating them. This helps reduce migraine-related pain and supports the prevention of episodic migraine when taken according to the prescribed schedule.

Sylvia ODT contains rimegepant, a calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) receptor antagonist used for the acute treatment of migraine, with or without aura, and the preventive treatment of episodic migraine in adults. It works by blocking CGRP activity, which plays an important role in migraine-related pain.
Acute Treatment of Migraine: The recommended dose is 75 mg orally as needed. Do not take more than 75 mg within 24 hours. The safety of using more than 18 doses in 30 days has not been established.
Preventive Treatment of Episodic Migraine: The recommended dose is 75 mg orally every other day.
Take Sylvia ODT exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Follow the product-specific instructions for taking the orally disintegrating tablet.
Children: The safety and effectiveness of Sylvia ODT have not been established in pediatric patients.
Older adults: Available studies have not shown clinically significant differences in drug exposure between older and younger adults. However, clinical studies included limited numbers of patients aged 65 years and older.
Hepatic impairment: No dosage adjustment is generally required in mild or moderate hepatic impairment. Avoid use in patients with severe hepatic impairment (Child-Pugh Class C).
Renal impairment: No dosage adjustment is generally required in mild, moderate, or severe renal impairment. Avoid use in patients with end-stage renal disease with creatinine clearance below 15 mL/min or those requiring dialysis, as use has not been adequately studied in these populations.
Common side effects may include:
Serious allergic reactions may also occur, including rash and difficulty breathing. Seek immediate medical attention if breathing difficulties, facial or throat swelling, or other signs of a severe allergic reaction develop.
Sylvia ODT should not be used by patients with a history of hypersensitivity to rimegepant or any of the tablet's ingredients.
There is insufficient information to determine the risk of rimegepant during pregnancy. Data are also limited regarding its presence in human breast milk, its effects on breastfed infants, and its impact on milk production.
Consult a healthcare professional before using Sylvia ODT during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Hypersensitivity reactions may occur shortly after taking Sylvia ODT or several days later. If an allergic reaction develops, discontinue the medicine and seek appropriate medical care. Serious or delayed reactions require prompt assessment.
