Description:

Zeptol CR 200 Tablet 10's is classified as an anticonvulsant or anti-epileptic medication used to treat epilepsy (seizures) and trigeminal neuralgia (facial nerve pain). Epilepsy is a neurological disorder characterized by sudden bursts of electrical impulses in the brain, leading to abnormal brain rhythms and recurrent seizures. Trigeminal neuralgia is a condition affecting the trigeminal nerve, responsible for transmitting sensations from the face to the brain.

  • The active ingredient in Zeptol CR 200 Tablet 10's is 'Carbamazepine,' which works by reducing excessive electrical impulses and nerve firing that cause seizures. By doing so, it helps control abnormal nerve activity in the brain and prevents seizures.

Some common side effects may include dizziness, tiredness, uncontrolled movements, nausea, headache, changes in liver enzymes, low white blood cell count, and minor skin reactions. Most of these side effects are temporary and do not require medical attention. However, if you experience persistent side effects, it is advisable to consult your doctor.
  • To effectively treat your condition, it is crucial to continue taking Zeptol CR 200 Tablet 10's as prescribed by your doctor. Do not discontinue the medication without consulting your doctor, as it may worsen seizures.

  • Zeptol CR 200 Tablet 10's may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so it is advised to avoid driving if you are feeling drowsy. It should not be given to children unless prescribed by a doctor. Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Zeptol CR 200 Tablet 10's, as it may increase dizziness and sleepiness.

Indication of Zeptol CR 200mg Tablet

Zeptol 200Mg Tablet Cr essentially treats nerve pain like trigeminal neuralgia as well as diabetic neuropathy. Moreover, the drug also effectively treats bipolar disorder. Zeptol 200Mg Tablet Cr functions as an anticonvulsant and decreases the occurrence of abnormal nerve impulses in the brain which can lead to severe reactions like seizures and acute pain.

Pharmacology

Carbamazepine works in the brain by inhibiting the activity in the thalamic nucleus ventralis. It also limits the spread of excitatory impulses at the synapses and reduces neuronal discharge by decreasing the influx of sodium ions across the cell membrane. These actions contribute to its anticonvulsant and mood-stabilizing effects, making it useful in the treatment of epilepsy and mood disorders.

Additionally, carbamazepine has an effect on the secretion of antidiuretic hormone (ADH) and its ability to promote water reabsorption in the kidneys. This can lead to increased water retention and help manage conditions like diabetes insipidus, where there is excessive thirst and urination due to impaired ADH function.
