Bet-A 0.01% Ointment

✔️ Bet-A Ointment is indicated for the treatment of:

• Eczema, including atopic, infantile, and discoid eczema
• Psoriasis (excluding extensive plaque psoriasis)
• Prurigo nodularis
• Lichen simplex and lichen planus
• Neurodermatitis
• Seborrheic dermatitis
• Contact dermatitis and allergic skin reactions
• Discoid lupus erythematosus
• Generalized erythroderma (as an adjunct to systemic corticosteroid therapy)

✔️ Do not use Bet-A Ointment in patients with:

• Hypersensitivity to betamethasone or any ingredient in the formulation
• Rosacea
• Acne vulgaris
• Perioral dermatitis
• Perianal or genital itching
• Viral skin infections such as herpes simplex or chickenpox
• Untreated fungal or bacterial skin infections
• Skin disorders in children under one year of age

✔️ Administration

• Apply a thin layer to the affected area 2–3 times daily until improvement occurs.
• Once symptoms improve, reduce application frequency to once or twice daily, or as directed by a healthcare professional.
• The usual treatment duration should not exceed three weeks unless advised by a physician.
• Cream formulations are generally preferred for moist lesions, while ointments are more suitable for dry, scaly skin conditions.

• Skin thinning (atrophy)
• Stretch marks
• Changes in skin pigmentation
• Increased hair growth (hypertrichosis)
• Folliculitis
• Telangiectasia
• Acne-like eruptions
• Secondary skin infections
• Allergic contact dermatitis
• Worsening of existing symptoms

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy

Use during pregnancy only when clearly necessary. Prolonged use over large skin areas should be avoided. Pregnant women should use the lowest effective amount for the shortest possible duration.

Breastfeeding

It is unknown whether topical betamethasone passes into breast milk in significant amounts. Use with caution while breastfeeding and avoid applying the medication directly to the nipple or areola.

✔️ Safety Information:

• Discontinue use if signs of hypersensitivity occur.
• Avoid prolonged continuous treatment, especially in children.
• Extensive application may increase systemic absorption and lead to corticosteroid-related effects.
• Long-term use on the face may cause skin thinning and other local adverse effects.
• Avoid contact with the eyes, as this may increase the risk of glaucoma.
• If a skin infection develops or spreads, discontinue corticosteroid treatment and seek medical advice.
• Use cautiously in patients with diabetes, hypertension, osteoporosis, glaucoma, epilepsy, liver disease, kidney impairment, or peptic ulcer disease.
• Gradual withdrawal may be necessary after long-term use.
