✔️ Pharmacology:
- Capecitabine is an orally administered prodrug that is converted into fluorouracil (5-FU) in the tumor, where it inhibits DNA synthesis, impeding tumor growth.
- The conversion of Capecitabine to 5-FU is catalyzed by thymidine phosphorylase, an enzyme more concentrated in tumors than normal tissues.
- The active metabolites, FdUMP and FUTP, cause cell damage by interfering with DNA and RNA synthesis, leading to cell death.
✔️ Dosage and Administration:
- Monotherapy: 1250 mg/m² orally twice daily for 2 weeks followed by a 1-week rest period in 3-week cycles.

A patient with a body surface area of 1.7 m² should take 4 tablets of 500 mg and 1 tablet of 150 mg twice daily, as prescribed by a doctor. Tablets should be taken within 30 minutes of meals, swallowed whole, and not crushed.

Overdose symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, mucositis, gastrointestinal bleeding, and bone marrow depression. Supportive treatment should be initiated to manage these symptoms.
