Nidocard Spray contains glyceryl trinitrate (nitroglycerin), a nitrate medicine used to relieve and prevent angina pectoris, or heart-related chest pain. Angina occurs when the heart muscle does not receive enough oxygen-rich blood.
Glyceryl trinitrate relaxes and widens blood vessels, reducing the heart's workload and oxygen demand and improving blood flow to the heart muscle. Nidocard Spray is generally used as a sublingual spray, allowing the medicine to act quickly during an angina attack or before activities that are likely to trigger chest pain.
Glyceryl trinitrate releases nitric oxide, which activates guanylate cyclase in vascular smooth muscle. This causes relaxation and dilation of blood vessels.
The resulting reduction in venous return lowers cardiac preload and oxygen demand. Arterial dilation can also reduce afterload, while coronary vasodilation and relief of coronary spasm may improve blood flow to the heart. These effects help relieve and prevent anginal chest pain.
Nidocard Spray is a nitrate medicine. Glyceryl trinitrate produces nitric oxide in the body, which relaxes vascular smooth muscle and widens blood vessels.
This reduces the amount of blood returning to the heart and lowers the heart's workload and oxygen requirement. It can also improve coronary blood flow and relieve coronary artery spasm, helping to reduce or prevent angina.
Acute angina:
Use 1–2 sprays as required at the onset of angina. The dose may be repeated every 3–5 minutes, but no more than 3 sprays should be used within 15 minutes.
If symptoms persist after 3 doses, urgent medical attention should be obtained.
Prevention of angina:
1–2 sprays may be administered approximately 5–10 minutes before an activity likely to provoke an angina attack, as advised by a healthcare professional.
Other forms of glyceryl trinitrate, such as sustained-release tablets or intravenous preparations, have different dosing schedules and should not be substituted for the spray without medical advice.
Patients with significant kidney impairment may require individualized dosing and monitoring. Treatment should be guided by the patient's renal function and overall clinical condition.
Store Nidocard Spray according to the manufacturer's instructions. Keep it protected from excessive heat, moisture, and direct light, and keep it out of the reach of children.
