Benzac 4% Cream 15g Tube

Benzac is a topical antibacterial treatment used for acne vulgaris. It helps reduce acne by eliminating acne-causing bacteria, unclogging pores, and promoting the removal of dead skin cells. It may be used alone or alongside other acne treatments as recommended by a healthcare professional.

• For external use only.
• Wash and dry the affected area thoroughly before application.
• Apply a thin layer to the affected skin once or twice daily, or as directed by your physician.
• Wash your hands after application unless the hands are the treated area.
• Avoid applying to broken, irritated, or sunburned skin.

Drug Interactions

• Sunscreens containing PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid) may temporarily discolor fabrics when used with Benzac.
• Inform your healthcare provider about any other topical acne treatments or skin products you are using to minimize irritation.

Contraindications

Do not use Benzac if you are allergic to benzoyl peroxide or any of the product's ingredients.

Common side effects

• Dry skin
• Itching
• Mild skin irritation
• Burning or stinging sensation

Less common side effects

• Skin peeling
• Allergic dermatitis
• Temporary skin discoloration
• Local swelling (edema)
• Rash

It may also bleach hair, clothing, towels, and other fabrics upon contact.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy: Category C. Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and recommended by a healthcare professional.

Breastfeeding: It is unknown whether benzoyl peroxide passes into breast milk. Use with caution during lactation.

Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid contact with the eyes, mouth, nose, and other mucous membranes.
• Do not apply under airtight (occlusive) dressings unless advised by your physician.
• Stop using the product and consult your doctor if severe irritation or an allergic reaction develops.
• If irritation improves, treatment may be restarted at a lower frequency as advised.
• Benzac can increase skin sensitivity to sunlight. Limit sun exposure, use sunscreen, and wear protective clothing when outdoors.
• Avoid applying to large areas unnecessarily, as it may bleach hair and colored fabrics.
