✔️ The usual recommended dose of Vildagliptin depends on the treatment regimen:

Monotherapy:
50 mg or 100 mg once daily

With Metformin or a Thiazolidinedione:
50 mg twice daily (morning and evening)

With a Sulfonylurea:
50 mg once daily in the morning

Vildapin can be taken with or without food.
No dosage adjustments are needed for elderly patients or those with mild renal impairment.

Pediatric use: Not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age.

✔️ Interaction

Clinical studies show no significant interactions with drugs such as pioglitazone, metformin, glibenclamide, digoxin, warfarin, amlodipine, ramipril, valsartan, or simvastatin.
However, similar to other oral antidiabetic agents, the glucose-lowering effect of Vildapin may be reduced when taken with substances like thiazide diuretics, corticosteroids, thyroid medications, and sympathomimetics.

✔️ Vildapin should not be used in patients with:

1. Known hypersensitivity to Vildagliptin or any excipient
2. Moderate to severe renal impairment
3. Hepatic impairment or elevated baseline liver enzymes (ALT/AST > 3× ULN)
4. Type 1 diabetes mellitus

✔️ Side Effects | Vildapin 50

Most side effects are mild and temporary, rarely leading to treatment discontinuation.
A few isolated cases of liver dysfunction have been reported. Clinical trials lasting over two years have not identified any new or unexpected safety concerns.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Use with caution in patients 75 years or older due to limited data.
• Liver function tests (LFTs) should be checked before starting therapy, then every 3 months for the first year, and periodically thereafter.
• If ALT or AST levels remain elevated at 3× ULN, treatment must be discontinued.
• Stop treatment immediately if jaundice or signs of liver dysfunction appear.
• Do not restart Vildapin after liver enzymes normalize.
• Use with caution in patients with NYHA class I–II heart failure; avoid in patients with class III–IV heart failure.
