Indication of Orostar Plus Mouthwash

• Gingivitis

Gingivitis is a condition in which your gums become red and swollen due to poor oral hygiene. Orostar Plus Mouthwash is used in the treatment of gingivitis and prevents your gums from bleeding.

• Mouth ulcers

Orostar Plus Mouthwash is used to treat the painful swelling and ulceration (sores) in your mouth.

• Oral Thrush

Oral thrush is a fungal infection in your mouth that is caused due immune deficiency and the use of steroid sprays for asthma. Orostar Plus Mouthwash is used along with other medicines in the treatment of oral thrush.

• Denture sores

Denture sores/ulcers develop due to continuous wearing of dentures and improper cleaning. Orostar Plus Mouthwash treats and prevents denture sores.

Pharmacology

Eucalyptol is a natural organic compound which is a colorless liquid. It is a cyclic ether and a monoterpenoid. Eucalyptol is an ingredient in many brands of mouthwash and cough suppressants. It controls airway mucus hypersecretion and asthma via anti-inflammatory cytokine inhibition.

Menthol: It provides a cooling sensation by stimulation of cooling receptors and gives local anesthetic action

Methyl Salicylate: It penetrates and reaches high concentrations in pain regions and inhibits prostaglandin synthesis and relieves pain effectively

Thymol, one of the chemicals in thyme, is used with another chemical, chlorhexidine, as a dental varnish to prevent tooth decay. In foods, thyme is used as a flavoring agent. In manufacturing, red thyme oil is used in perfumes. It is also used in soaps, cosmetics, and toothpaste.

Fluoride salts are often added to municipal drinking water (as well as certain food products in some countries) for the purpose of maintaining dental health. Fluoride enhances the strength of teeth by the formation of fluorapatite, a naturally occurring component of tooth enamel. Toothpaste often contains sodium fluoride to prevent cavities, although tin(II) fluoride is generally considered superior for this application.

Dosage & Administration of Orostar Plus Mouthwash

• For adults, the recommended dose of mouthwash is to rinse at full strength for 1 minute with 10 ml in the morning and at night. Do not swallow the mouthwash.
• For children aged 12 years and older, the same recommended dose applies: rinse at full strength for 1 minute with 10 ml in the morning and at night. As with adults, children should also avoid swallowing the mouthwash.

Administration: 

• Fill the cap to its line (10ml).
• Rinse mouth with mouthwash thoroughly for 30 seconds, gargle, and expel.
• Do not swallow.
• This mouthwash can be used by both men and women
• Use after brushing - an effective mouth freshener for your post-meal needs.

Precautions & Warnings

• Use Orostar Plus Mouthwash exactly as advised by your physician/dentist
• It is for oral use only
• Swish and spit, do not swallow it
• Rinse your mouth thoroughly with water
• Take the required amount of mouthwash and swish it in your mouth for 1 minute
• Do not rinse your mouth, drink, or eat something for at least 20 minutes after using Orostar Plus Mouthwash
• For prolonged use dilute Orostar Plus Mouthwash with an equal amount of water (1:1 ratio)
• Avoid consuming tannin-containing food and drinks for at least one hour after using this mouthwash
• Do not use this product if you are allergic to any of its ingredients
• It can be used in pregnant and breast-feeding women however, you must consult your doctor before using it
• It is not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age
• Inform your doctor about all the medicines you use including prescription, non-prescription and herbal supplements
