Atropine Sulphate, containing atropine, is used for the following purposes:
Atropine Sulphate, an anticholinergic medicine, blocks the effects of acetylcholine in the eyes. This action relaxes the eye muscles, causing pupil dilation (mydriasis), which aids in diagnosing eye problems. It also reduces eye inflammation by blocking eye muscle movements. In cases of amblyopia, Atropine Sulphate temporarily blurs the healthy eye, prompting the brain to focus harder using the weaker eye.
Dosage and administration should be determined by a healthcare professional based on the specific condition being treated.
Common side effects may include photosensitivity, eye irritation, redness, itching, or swelling. Contact a doctor if any symptoms worsen.
Regular monitoring of intraocular pressure (pressure in the eyes) is necessary before and during treatment with Atropine Sulphate. Children using Atropine Sulphateshould be monitored by their doctor for at least 30 minutes after application.
Keratitis, iritis, cyclitis, & refractive procedure in children. Mydriatic & cycloplegic.
Atropine is an anticholinergic agent which competitively blocks the muscarinic receptors in peripheral tissues. It also has mydriatic and cycloplegic effects.
Common side effects include dry mouth, dysphagia, constipation, flushing, dry skin, tachycardia, palpitations, arrhythmias, mydriasis, photophobia, and cycloplegia. Toxic dosages may lead to restlessness, disorientation, excitation, hallucinations, delirium, and circulatory failure.
Atrogen 10 ml, containing atropine, is indicated for various conditions including:
Atropine binds to muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, inhibiting them and resulting in several anticholinergic actions. It decreases heart block caused by vagal activity, relaxes smooth muscles of the bronchi and intestines, reduces glandular secretions, and has cycloplegic and mydriatic effects.
Quinidine, antidepressants, and certain antihistamines may have additive anticholinergic effects.
Atrogen 10 ml is contraindicated in conditions such as glaucoma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, sick sinus syndrome, thyrotoxicosis, heart failure, pyloric stenosis, and prostatic hypertrophy.
Pregnancy Category C. Atropine should be used in pregnant women only if necessary.
Use with caution in pregnancy, elderly, babies, children, and reflux oesophagitis.
Store Atrogen 10 ml at room temperature (20-25 degrees Celsius) away from heat, moisture, and light. Keep out of reach of children.
