Nepafen 0.10% Eye Drops 5ml

✔️ Nepafenac 0.3% Sterile Ophthalmic Suspension

Post-operative Pain and Inflammation

• Instill 1 drop once daily starting 1 day before cataract surgery.
• Continue treatment on the day of surgery and during the first 2 weeks following surgery.
• An additional drop should be administered 30 to 120 minutes before the surgical procedure.

Post-operative Pain and Inflammation

• Instill 1 drop into the affected eye three times daily.
• Begin treatment 1 day before cataract surgery.
• Continue on the day of surgery and throughout the first 2 weeks after surgery.

Prevention of Surgery-Induced Miosis

• Instill 1 drop three times daily starting 1 day before surgery and continue on the day of surgery.

Prevention of Post-operative Cystoid Macular Edema (CME)

• Instill 1 drop three times daily beginning 1 day before surgery.
• Continue on the day of surgery and for up to 6 weeks after the procedure.

✔️ How does Nepafenac work?

Nepafenac passes through the cornea and is metabolized to amfenac by intraocular hydrolases. Amfenac suppresses the activity of cyclooxygenase enzymes responsible for prostaglandin synthesis, helping to reduce inflammation, pain, and other postoperative ocular complications.

✔️ Nepafenac should not be used in patients who have:

• Known hypersensitivity to Nepafenac or any component of the formulation.
• A history of allergic reactions to other NSAIDs.

✔️ Pediatric Use

• Safety and efficacy have not been established in patients younger than 18 years of age.

✔️ Geriatric Use

Clinical studies have not shown significant differences in safety or effectiveness between elderly and younger adult patients.

✔️ Side Effects

• Foreign body sensation in the eye
• Eyelid margin crusting
• Ocular discomfort
• Eye redness (ocular hyperemia)
• Mild irritation or transient visual disturbances

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

Pregnancy

• Adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women are lacking.
• Nepafenac should be used during pregnancy only when the anticipated benefit outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

Breastfeeding

• It is unknown whether Nepafenac is excreted into human breast milk.
• Caution is advised when administering the medication to nursing mothers.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Use cautiously in patients with bleeding disorders or those receiving medications that may prolong bleeding time.
• Follow the prescribed dosing schedule carefully.
• Avoid contaminating the dropper tip to reduce the risk of infection.
