Indications of Dianak-IV
Cholera saline comprises a variety of electrolytes that are commonly depleted in a variety of situations, such as diarrhoea, vomiting, excessive perspiration, and so on. As a result, this saline is used to replenish and restore the body's normal electrolyte balance in cases of cholera, as well as diarrhoea, vomiting, and fluid loss.
Pharmacology
This is a pyrogen-free sterile injection solution of Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, and Sodium Acetate (as Trihydrate) in Water.
Dosage
The volume and rate of infusion of Cholera Saline depends upon the requirements of the patient and the judgement of the physician. It usually varies with age, weight and clinical condition of the patient.
Administration
Administration Procedure:
Check infusion set and infusion solution prior to use
Pull moderately to tear off the protective cover of the Eurohead
Hold lightly the Eurohead but not the bag
Open the flow regulator fully and hold the giving set on the top white area, but not the membrane venting region
Insert the spike of the administration set to the Eurohead and fit the connector of the administration set firmly to the needle
Gradually allow the fluid to flow down to the needle tip and close
Remove the protective cover of the needle
Locate the venipuncture site and clean the site with an antiseptic solution, and then insert the needle
Securely tape the puncture site
Securely tape the wings and tubing
Start infusion while adjusting drip speed
Contraindications
In the event of an acute respiratory or other active infection, defer administration. If possible, avoid giving saline to a patient who is receiving corticosteroids or other immunosuppressive drugs because it may impair their immunological response.
Side Effects of Dianak-IV
Malaise, low-grade fever, headache, widespread aches and pains, flushing, generalized urticaria, tachycardia, and hypotension are some of the symptoms that can arise. Reactions at the injection site are rare, but they do happen every now and then, usually within 5 to 7 days. Erythema, swelling, soreness, tenderness, and induration are some of the symptoms.
Precautions & Warnings
Because Cholera Saline contains a variety of electrolytes, it should be used with caution in patients with electrolyte imbalances, such as those who are pregnant, have renal impairment, heart failure, pulmonary congestion, or have a head injury, or who are on potassium-sparing diuretics.
Therapeutic Class
Intravenous fluid preparations
Storage Conditions
Should be stored at controlled room temperature.
