✅ Description:

Perindopril, a non-sulfhydryl ACE (Angiotensin-Converting Enzyme) inhibitor, lowers blood pressure primarily by suppressing the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS). After oral intake, perindopril is converted to its active metabolite, perindoprilat, which blocks ACE activity—thus reducing the formation of angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor. This results in:

  • Vasodilation
  • Reduced aldosterone secretion
  • Mild increase in serum potassium
  • Elevated plasma renin activity
It may also inhibit the breakdown of bradykinin, a vasodilator peptide, which could contribute to its antihypertensive effect.
  • Indapamide, a sulfonamide-type thiazide-like diuretic, acts at the cortical diluting segment of the nephron, promoting sodium and chloride excretion, with modest potassium and magnesium loss. It increases urine output, helping reduce blood pressure via a diuretic and vascular effect.
