Facid HC Cream works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis (essential for the bacteria to grow) which results in its destruction thus preventing its growth and spread of skin infection in affected individuals.
Facid HC Cream contains fusidic acid which belongs to the group of medicines called Antibiotics. It is used in the treatment of bacterial skin infections such as impetigo (crusty patchy skin), infected dermatitis (inflamed skin with spots), infected cuts, and grazes in affected individuals.
Combination cream with Fusidic Acid BP 2 percent and Hydrocortisone Acetate BP 1 percent combines the potent topical antibacterial action of Fusidic Acid with the anti-inflammatory and anti-pruritic properties of Hydrocortisone Acetate. When applied topically, fusidic acid is effective against some Clostridium and Bacteroides, Streptococci, Corynebacteria, Neisseria, and Staphylococci. Antibiotic fusidic acid prevents microorganisms from synthesizing proteins. It obstructs the translocation stage by stabilizing the ribosome-guanosine diphosphate elongation factor G-complex. As a result, fewer amino acids are transferred to the growing polypeptide because aminoacyl t-RNA is prevented from binding to the ribosome. The most prevalent glucocorticosteroid that is produced naturally in humans is hydrocortisone. In pharmaceutical dosages, its main function is to reduce the skin's sensitivity to injury (i.e. anti-inflammatory). It also has anti-mitotic properties.
Patients with hypersensitivity to follicular acid, hydrocortisone acetate, or other cream ingredients should not use Facid HC Cream. Facid HC Cream is contraindicated in bacterial infections because of non-susceptible organisms' fungaL infections' tuberculosis of the skin, syphilitic skin infections, chicken pox eruptions caused by vaccines, and viral diseases of the skin in general.
It is unknown whether Fusidic Acid and/or topical Hydrocortisone Acetate is safe to use during pregnancy or lactation. The possible benefits of using this cream during pregnancy or lactation must be evaluated against the dangers to the fetus or nursing infant.
Store at a temperature below 30°C and away from light and moisture. Keep out of children's reach.
