A combination drug that aids in pain relief is Xenole 500. It is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and osteoarthritis pain and inflammation. It can also be used to treat toothaches, ear and throat pain, back pain, and muscle pain.
Pharmacology
This consists of a Naproxen core with an enteric coating and a magnesium esomeprazole instant-release coating. Esomeprazole is consequently released into the stomach first, and then Naproxen dissolves in the small intestine.
A nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) called naproxen has analgesic and antipyretic properties. Prostaglandin production is suppressed by naproxen, which is how it works. Proton pump inhibitors like esomeprazole prevent the production of stomach acid by specifically inhibiting the H+/k+ -ATPase in the gastric parietal cell. Esomeprazole inhibits the final stage of acid production by specifically targeting the proton pump; as a result, stomach acidity is decreased.
Dosage
Before choosing to use this tablet, carefully weigh the benefits, risks, and alternative treatment options. Utilize the shortest possible duration and lowest effective dose in accordance with each patient's unique treatment objectives. A different course of treatment should be taken into consideration if an Esomeprazole dose less than the recommended daily maximum of 40 mg is more effective.
Osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, and rheumatoid arthritis
- Adults should take one tablet twice daily that contains either 375 mg of naproxen or 500 mg of naproxen and 20 mg of esomeprazole.
- Those 12 years of age and older who are adolescents who have juvenile idiopathic arthritis
- If you weigh more than 50 kg, take 375 mg of naproxen and 20 mg of esomeprazole, or 500 mg.
Administration
- The pill should not be broken, chewed, crushed, or dissolved.
- This pill should be taken 30 minutes before meals.
Interaction
When it comes to medicine:
The use of NSAIDs concurrently may decrease the antihypertensive impact of ACE inhibitors, diuretics, and beta-blockers.
Concurrent use of this pill with warfarin may raise the risk of a bleeding problem.
Esomeprazole reduces stomach acid secretion and may interfere with medication absorption in cases where gastric pH is a significant factor of bioavailability (eg. Ketoconazole, iron salts, and digoxin).
With food and others: Administration of Naproxen and Esomeprazole along with high-fat meal has no effect on naproxen absorption but considerably prolongs Tmax by 10 hours and reduces peak plasma concentration (Cmax) by around 12% in healthy individuals.
Contraindications
