Breast cancer, infertility due to anovulation.

Side Effects of Lerozol 2.5

Common: 

Hot flushes, hypercholesterolemia, fatigue, chest pain, arthralgia, skin rash, headache, dizziness, gastrointestinal disorders, muscle pain, osteoporosis, edema, depression, weight increase, hair loss, increased sweating, hypertension, abdominal pain, dry skin, vaginal bleeding, palpitations, joint stiffness, 
 

Rare: 

Anxiety, irritability, memory problems, insomnia, carpal tunnel syndrome, eye irritation, itching, vaginal discharge/dryness, weight decrease, urinary tract infection, cough, elevated enzyme levels, and jaundice.

How does Lerozol 2.5 work?

Lerozol decreases the amount of estrogen produced in the body, which can slow down or stop the growth of certain types of breast cancers. It also increases the release of certain hormones to stimulate the release of eggs from the ovaries in infertility cases.

Quick Suggestions:

• It may cause increased sweating and hot flashes. Try to keep cool by wearing light and airy clothes.
• Your doctor may monitor your cholesterol level and bone mineral density (BMD) regularly as Lerozol can alter their levels.
• Do not take Letrozole if you are pregnant or breastfeeding
• Letrozole should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years or older)

Indication of Lerozol 2.5

• Adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer.
• Adjuvant treatment of postmenopausal women with early breast cancer who have received 5 years of adjuvant tamoxifen therapy.
• First-line treatment in postmenopausal women with hormone-dependent advanced breast cancer.
• Treatment of advanced breast cancer in women with postmenopausal status.
• Pre-operative therapy in postmenopausal women with localized hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

Pharmacology

Letrozole competitively binds to the heme group of aromatase, leading to inhibition of the enzyme and a significant reduction in plasma estrogen levels.

Dosage & Administration of Lerozol 2.5

For advanced or locally advanced breast cancer, and adjuvant therapy for postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive early breast cancer: 2.5 mg once daily. Dose adjustments may be necessary for patients with hepatic impairment.

Interaction

Plasma levels of Letrozole may be reduced by tamoxifen.

Contraindications

Pregnancy & Lactation

Not recommended during pregnancy due to teratogenicity.
Avoid in nursing women due to potential risk to infants.

Severe renal impairment, severe hepatic impairment, osteoporosis. Caution when driving or operating machinery. Consult your doctor before use if you have liver or kidney issues.
