✅ Description:

Moxibac ophthalmic solution is prescribed for bacterial conjunctivitis caused by susceptible strains of the following organisms:

Aerobic Gram-positive bacteria: Corynebacterium species, Micrococcus luteus, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus haemolyticus, Staphylococcus hominis, Staphylococcus warneri, Streptococcus pneumoniae, and Streptococcus viridans group.

Aerobic Gram-negative bacteria: Acinetobacter lwoffii, Haemophilus influenzae, Haemophilus parainfluenzae.

Other organisms: Chlamydia trachomatis.

Intraocular Use: Effective in preventing postoperative bacterial endophthalmitis when administered intraocularly before eye surgery.

Ocular Side Effects (1-6% of patients): Conjunctivitis, dry eyes, eye discomfort, decreased vision, keratitis, redness, pain, itching, subconjunctival hemorrhage, and excessive tearing.

Non-Ocular Side Effects (1-4% of patients): Fever, cough, infections, otitis media, sore throat, rash, and rhinitis.

Eye Drops: Instill one drop into the affected eye, three times daily for 7 days.

No formal drug interaction studies have been conducted with Moxibac ophthalmic solution. However, in vitro studies suggest that Moxibac does not inhibit CYP3A4, CYP2D6, CYP2C9, CYP2C19, or CYP1A2, meaning it is unlikely to interfere with drugs metabolized by these liver enzymes.
