How Nexum Mups 20mg Tablet works?

Nexum Mups 20mg Tablet is successful at treating Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, gastroesophageal reflux disease, and erosive esophagitis (inflammation of the food pipe). The proton pump gate is permanently blocked by Nexum Mups 20mg Tablet. (which secretes stomach acid). All age groups, including specific populations like the elderly, pregnant, breastfeeding moms, and renal, and liver disease patients, can receive a prescription for it. For these populations, dose adjustments are typically not necessary.

Pharmacology

Dosage & Administration of Nexum Mups 20

Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach, making it effective for treating acid-related conditions such as erosive esophagitis and gastric ulcers. The dosing for different indications and age groups are as follows:

Adult (≥18 years):

• Erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks
• Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis: 20 mg once daily
• Risk reduction in NSAID-associated gastric ulcer: 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks
• Pylori eradication (with amoxicillin and clarithromycin): 20 mg twice daily for 7 days
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and idiopathic hypersecretion: 40-80 mg twice daily

Children and adolescents (12-18 years):

• Erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for 4 weeks
• Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis: 20 mg once daily
• Pylori eradication (with amoxicillin and clarithromycin): 20 mg twice daily for 7 days

Children (1-11 years):

• Erosive esophagitis: Weight <20 kg: 10 mg once daily for 8 weeks. Weight ≥20 kg: 10 mg or 20 mg once daily for 8 weeks
• Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis: 10 mg once daily

It's important to note that the Esomeprazole Mups tablet is not approved for use in children younger than 1 year.

As with all medications, it's important to follow the dosing instructions provided by your healthcare provider and to report any side effects or concerns you may have.

Interaction

In the liver, esomeprazole is mostly metabolized by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4. In vitro and in vivo studies show that esomeprazole does not appear to inhibit CYPs 1A2, 2A6, 2C9, 2D6, or 3A4. There shouldn't be any clinically relevant interactions between these CYP enzymes and the medications you take. Drug interaction investigations have shown that esomeprazole does not interact clinically with phenytoin, warfarin, quinidine, clarithromycin, or amoxicillin.

Esomeprazole may affect CYP2C19, the enzyme that metabolizes the drug the most. Esomeprazole 30 mg decreased the clearance of diazepam by 45% when combined with the CYP2C19 substrate diazepam. Up to 12 hours after therapy, elevated diazepam plasma levels have been documented. Esomeprazole prevents the production of gastric acid. 

Contraindications

In patients who have a history of hypersensitivity to any of the formulations, esomeprazole is not recommended.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Caution is advised by the manufacturer. Esomeprazole or its metabolites are not known to occur in human breast milk.

Precautions & Warnings

• If you are allergic to Nexum Mups 20mg Tablet or proton pump inhibitors, suffer from stomach cancer, liver illness, low magnesium levels (osteoporosis), low vitamin B12 levels, are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, or are nursing, you should not use Nexum Mups 20mg Tablet.
• A blood thinner (warfarin), an antifungal (ketoconazole), an anti-HIV medication (atazanavir, nelfinavir), iron supplements, an antibiotic (ampicillin), and a cancer medication may interact with Nexum Mups 20mg Tablet.
• If you use Nexum Mups 20mg Tablets, tell your doctor. Long-term use of may lead to magnesium, Vitamin B12, and lupus erythematosus deficiencies.
• Lupus erythematosus is an inflammatory disorder in which the immune system attacks its own tissues. Consuming Nexum Mups 20mg Tablet may conceal gastric cancer symptoms, therefore if you have any significant stomach discomfort or gastric bleeding (blood in your mucus or stools), call your doctor right once.
• Children under the age of five should not be provided Nexum Mups 20mg Tablet. Children between the ages of 5 and 16 are typically taken Nexum Mups 20mg Tablet. to address food pipe damage caused by acid. (erosive esophagitis).
