Zovia IV Injection/Infusion 10ml

✔️ Description

Zovia is a sterile lyophilized powder designed for intravenous injection or infusion, combining 9 water-soluble and 3 fat-soluble vitamins. It uses mixed micelles as a solubilizing agent. Before use, it should be reconstituted with 5 ml of sterile water or compatible IV fluids such as 0.9% saline or 5% glucose.

✔️ Dosage & Administration

Adults & children (≥11 years): 1 vial per day.

Reconstitute with 5 ml of sterile water or compatible IV fluid. Mix gently to dissolve.

Administer the full volume by slow IV injection (≥10 minutes) or infusion.

For parenteral nutrition: Add just before use and complete administration within 24 hours.

✔️ Side Effects

Rare: Rash, urticaria, or anaphylaxis (especially linked to thiamine).

Reactions may occur during rapid IV administration; hence, infuse slowly.

✔️ Drug Interactions

• Folic acid may increase the metabolism of certain antiepileptics (e.g., phenytoin, phenobarbital).
• Pyridoxine can antagonize levodopa.
• Ascorbic acid and riboflavin may reduce the activity of bleomycin.
• Close monitoring is advised with a1-acid glycoprotein-bound drugs (e.g., propranolol, quinidine).

✔️ Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any components.
• Pre-existing hypervitaminosis, especially of fat-soluble vitamins.
• Intolerance to thiamine.
• Severe liver dysfunction or hyperparathyroidism due to the risk of hypercalcemia.

✔️ Use in Pregnancy & Lactation

Not well-studied in pregnancy; should be used only when clearly indicated.

Not recommended during breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Risk of allergic reactions, especially in patients sensitive to thiamine or nicotinamide.
• Caution in hepatic or renal impairment—monitor fat-soluble vitamin levels.
• Stop immediately if early signs of hypersensitivity appear (sneezing, rash, mild asthma).

✔️ Storage Guidelines

• Before reconstitution: Store below 25°C, protect from light, do not freeze.
• After reconstitution: Use immediately, or store at 2–8°C for up to 24 hours.
• Discard unused portions.
