Pharmacology

Dosage of Emistat FT 4mg Tablet

These are the recommended dosages for Ondace for different types of nausea and vomiting:

For Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting:

• Adults and pediatric patients (6 months to 18 years):
  • 8 mg tablet/orodispersible tablet: Take three doses of 0.15 mg/kg, up to a maximum of 16 mg per dose.
  • 4 mg orodispersible tablet: Take three doses of 0.15 mg/kg, up to a maximum of 16 mg per dose.

For Radiotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting:

• Adults:
  • 8 mg tablet/orodispersible tablet: Take 8 mg orally 1 to 2 hours before radiotherapy, and then take 8 mg orally every 8 hours for up to 5 days after a course of treatment.
  • 4 mg orodispersible tablet: Take three doses of 0.15 mg/kg, up to a maximum of 16 mg per dose.

For Postoperative nausea and vomiting:

• Adults:
  • 8 mg tablet/orodispersible tablet: Take 16 mg given as two 8 mg tablets.
  • 4 mg orodispersible tablet: Take 16 mg.

Administration of Emistat FT 4mg Tablet

• Emistat FT 4mg Tablet can be taken with or without a meal as advised by the doctor. Swallow the tablet as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it.
• Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending on your age, body weight, and severity of the infection.

Interaction

• Emistat FT 4mg Tablet may cause a serious reaction when used with certain medicines like painkillers (acetaminophen, tramadol, ibuprofen), anti-anxiety (pregabalin, lorazepam), and antiparkinson medicine (apomorphine).
• The use of Emistat FT 4mg Tablet is restricted in people with hypokalemia (low potassium) and severe liver disease.

Contraindications

Contraindicated in patients known to have extreme touchiness to the medication or any of its components. Concomitant utilization of apomorphine.

Pregnancy & Lactation
