Common side effects include nausea, headache, fatigue, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, and cold extremities.

• Be cautious of dizziness. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
• Monitor your blood sugar levels regularly if you are diabetic, as Concor can hide symptoms of low blood sugar.
• Do not stop taking Concor suddenly, as it can cause a sudden rise in blood pressure, increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Indication of Concor 5mg Tablet

Concor is used for hypertension (high blood pressure), angina (heart-related chest pain), and heart failure. Bisoprolol, the active ingredient in Concor, selectively and competitively blocks beta1-receptors, with little or no effect on beta2-receptors except at high doses.

Pharmacology

Concor contains bisoprolol, which is a beta1-selective adrenoceptor-blocking agent. It blocks beta1 receptors in the heart, resulting in a lowered heart rate and reduced oxygen demand by the heart. It has minimal effect on beta2 receptors in the bronchi and vessels, thus unlikely to affect airway resistance or metabolic regulation.

Dosage & Administration of Concor 5mg Tablet

For the treatment of stable chronic heart failure, Concor is initiated at a dose of 5 mg once daily, which may be adjusted based on individual patient response. The dosage may be increased gradually up to a maximum of 10 mg daily if needed. For hypertension, the recommended dose range is 2.5-20 mg once daily. Concor tablets should be taken in the morning with or without food and swallowed whole with liquid.

Interaction

Concomitant use with certain medications such as class I antiarrhythmic drugs, catecholamine-depleting drugs, clonidine, digitalis glycosides, NSAIDs, and others may potentiate or reduce the effects of Concor.

Contraindications

Concor is contraindicated in patients with cardiogenic shock, overt cardiac failure, second or third-degree AV block, and marked sinus bradycardia.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Concor should be used during pregnancy and lactation only if the benefit outweighs the risk. It may affect placental blood flow and fetal development. It is not recommended to administer Concor while breastfeeding due to a lack of safety data.

Precautions & Warnings

Concor should be used with caution in patients with heart failure, liver or kidney issues, asthma, and glaucoma. It should not be used for major surgery due to potential interactions with anesthesia. Close monitoring of heart function is required during treatment with Concor. Use with caution in patients with impaired renal or hepatic function. Use in lactation is cautioned due to unknown excretion in milk.
