How does Kofmelt Syrup 100ml work?

It thins and loosens mucus (phlegm) in the nose, windpipe and lungs making it easier to cough out.

Side Effects of Kofmelt Syrup 100ml

• Common side effects of Kofmelt may include vomiting, nausea, and upset stomach.
• Notify your doctor if you experience any side effects or if they persist.

Pharmacology:

• Ambroxol Hydrochloride, the active metabolite of Bromhexine, exhibits a greater bronchosecretolytic effect than Bromhexine. It improves sputum rheology by hydrating mechanisms, leading to the liquefaction of mucus in the respiratory tract lumen, facilitating expectoration and reducing dyspnea.
• It stimulates the production of phospholipids of surfactant by alveolar cells, lowering superficial tension in the alveoli and reducing bronchial hyperactivity.
• Kofmelt also has anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the production of cellular cytokines and arachidonic acid metabolites, thereby improving airway patency in patients with COPD.

Dosage & Administration of Kofmelt Syrup 100ml

• Average daily dose (preferably after a meal):
  • 2-5 years old: 2.5 ml (1/2 teaspoonful), 2-3 times a day
  • 5-10 years old: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful), 2-3 times a day
  • 10 years old and adults: 10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls), 3 times a day

• Kofmelt helps in thinning and removal of mucus (a slimy and sticky substance) from the airways, thereby treating various respiratory conditions.
• Measure the syrup with a special dose-measuring spoon or cup, not a regular table spoon.
• Inform your doctor if you have suffered or are currently suffering from any stomach, liver, or kidney problems.
• Do not use Kofmelt for more than 14 days, without your doctor’s advice.
• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

Administration of Kofmelt Syrup 100ml

• Kofmelt can be taken with or without food.
• Ensure you measure the syrup accurately using a special dose-measuring spoon or cup.

Interaction:

• Kofmelt is contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to ambroxol or bromhexine.

Contraindications:

• Contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to Ambroxol or Bromhexine.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Teratogenic and fetal toxicity studies have shown no harmful effects of Ambroxol Hydrochloride. However, it is advised not to use it during pregnancy, especially during the 1st trimester. Safety during lactation has not been established yet.

Precautions & Warnings:

Kofmelt should be given cautiously to patients with gastric and duodenal ulceration or convulsive disorders. Patients with hepatic and renal insufficiency should take it with caution.
