How does Sodinate 600mg Tablet work?

Sodinate 600mg Tablet functions as an alkalizing agent by increasing plasma bicarbonate concentration, which raises the pH of urine and blood. As a result, it prevents metabolic acidosis (increased production of acid in the body). It also works by neutralizing the excessive production of stomach acid and increasing the pH value of stomach fluids. Thus, it relieves acidity symptoms.

Sodinate 600mg Tablet is an antacid used in the treatment of indigestion, and metabolic acidosis and used as an alkalinizing agent. 

Pharmacology

Sodium bicarbonate acts as a systemic alkalizer, increasing plasma bicarbonate levels, buffering excess hydrogen ion concentration, and raising blood pH to reverse the clinical manifestations of acidosis. It also serves as a urinary alkalizer, enhancing the excretion of free bicarbonate ions in urine, thus elevating urinary pH. Additionally, it replenishes electrolyte imbalances in severe diarrhea where bicarbonate loss is significant.

Dosage & Administration of Sodinate 600mg Tablet

The usual dose ranges from 300 mg to 2 grams, administered 1 to 4 times daily.

Contraindications

Sodibar is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity, hypoventilatory states, excessive chloride depletion, metabolic and/or respiratory alkalosis, hypocalcemia, and diuretics known to induce hypochloremic alkalosis.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Use during pregnancy is only recommended if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. It may adversely affect renal function, especially during the second and third trimesters. It may pass into breast milk, hence caution is advised during lactation.
