Benozol contains brinzolamide, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that reduces aqueous humor production in the eye by slowing the formation of bicarbonate ions, sodium, and fluid transport in the ciliary body. This results in decreased intraocular pressure.
Brinzolamide
Adults: Instill 1 drop in the affected eye(s) three times daily.
Pediatrics (4 weeks–5 years): 1 drop in affected eye(s) twice daily.
Geriatrics: No notable safety or efficacy differences compared to younger adults.
Caution is advised when used with high-dose salicylates in patients also receiving systemic carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, due to rare potential interactions.
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the formulation.

As a topical sulfonamide, Benozol may cause systemic adverse reactions, including serious and potentially fatal hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis).
Discontinue use immediately if signs of hypersensitivity appear.
Not recommended in renal impairment.
Use with caution in hepatic impairment.
Store at room temperature away from light. Avoid freezing. Do not use more than 4 weeks after opening. Prevent the dropper tip from contacting any surface.
