Ultrapime IV/IM is a powerful, injectable broad-spectrum antibiotic that belongs to the 4th-generation cephalosporin class. It is designed to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections involving the lungs, urinary tract, skin, abdomen, and bloodstream. It is also effective in managing serious hospital-acquired infections and febrile neutropenia. Ultrapime (Cefepime) inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), leading to cell lysis and bacterial death. <40 kg: 50 mg/kg every 8–12 hours
40 kg: Use adult dosage
Febrile neutropenia: 50 mg/kg every 8 hours
Given IV over 30 minutes or by IM injection in less severe cases
Dose adjustments are required in renal impairment:
CrCl <10 mL/min: 0.25–0.5 g every 24 hours
CrCl 11–29 mL/min: 0.5–1 g every 24 hours
CrCl 30–60 mL/min: 0.5–2 g every 24 hours
Hemodialysis: 1 g initially, then 0.5 g every 24 hours after dialysis
CAPD: 48-hourly dosing

Aminoglycosides: Increases risk of nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity
