Tetrax 500 is an antibiotic used to treat a range of bacterial infections, including infections in the lungs, urinary tract, eyes, and sexually transmitted infections. It effectively kills bacteria, alleviating symptoms and curing infections. The medication should be taken on an empty stomach, ideally at the same time each day to maintain consistent levels in the body. Completing the full prescribed course is essential to prevent the return of infection due to surviving bacteria.
Consuming alcohol with Tetrax 500 generally does not lead to harmful side effects.
Tetrax 500 is generally unsafe for use during pregnancy due to evidence of risks to the developing baby. In life-threatening cases, a doctor may prescribe it if the potential benefits outweigh the risks. Always consult your doctor before use.
Tetrax 500 is probably safe during short-term breastfeeding use, as milk levels are low. However, prolonged or repeated use may lead to dental enamel staining or bone deposition in the baby.
Tetrax 500 typically does not affect your ability to drive.
Tetrax 500 should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease, as dose adjustments may be necessary. It is not recommended for those with severe kidney disease; consult your doctor for guidance.
Caution. Tetrax 500 should be used with caution in patients with liver disease, as dose adjustments may be required. Please consult your doctor.
Tetrax 500 works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It binds to the 30S ribosomal subunit, preventing bacteria from producing proteins necessary for their growth, effectively stopping infection progression.
Tetrax inhibits protein synthesis in bacteria by actively transporting through the cell membrane, binding to 30S ribosomes. It is effective against some Gram-positive cocci but is not recommended for Gram-positive aerobic infections. It is active against Brucella, Calymmatobacterium granulomatis, and some anaerobes, though resistant strains are common. Around 60–80% of Tetrax is absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and distributed widely throughout body tissues and fluids. It has a 12-hour half-life and is excreted via urine and feces.
Specific conditions:
Tetrax should be taken one hour before or two hours after meals.
Avoid use with antacids containing Al, Ca, Mg, and Fe, which impair absorption. Tetrax may reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives and increase the effects of anticoagulants and hypoglycemics.
Tetrax should not be used in patients allergic to tetracyclines or those with severe renal impairment or systemic lupus erythematosus.
Tetrax is contraindicated during pregnancy due to risks to the mother and fetus. Avoid use in breastfeeding and children under 8 years old due to risks of bone and teeth discoloration.
Caution is advised in patients with liver issues. High doses and co-administration with hepatotoxic drugs should be avoided.
Store at 20-25°C.
