Paracetamol, the active ingredient in Aceta, acts as an analgesic and antipyretic with minimal anti-inflammatory effects. It increases the pain threshold and reduces fever primarily by inhibiting enzymes (COX-1, COX-2, and COX-3) involved in prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system.
Fever, Mild to moderate pain, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic low back pain, Renal stone pain, neuropathic pain, toothache, migraine, postoperative mild to moderate pain.
Excessive doses can lead to liver damage, with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, pallor, and abdominal pain in the first 24 hours. Severe cases may progress to liver failure, metabolic acidosis, and potentially fatal outcomes. Immediate treatment with activated charcoal and N-acetylcysteine is critical within the first 24 hours of overdose.
Dosage varies by age, from 10 mg/kg in infants to 4-8 teaspoons in adults.
Typically mild but may include blood disorders (e.g., thrombocytopenia), pancreatitis, skin reactions, and allergic responses.
Use caution when taken with alcohol, barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, anticonvulsants, or oral contraceptives, as these may affect how Aceta is metabolized and increase the risk of liver toxicity.
Do not use if there is a known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol.
No adverse effects were observed in studies at recommended doses, but consult a physician before use. Paracetamol is excreted in breast milk in low amounts and does not contraindicate breastfeeding.
Patients with severe liver or kidney impairment should use Aceta with caution. Avoid exceeding the recommended dose, especially in those with liver disease. Do not combine with other Paracetamol-containing products.
Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
