How does Celeste 20mg Tablet work?

Celeste 20mg Tablet works by relaxing the smooth muscles in the penis and increasing the blood flow. This helps the penis to harden and leads to an erection. Celeste 20mg Tablet also relaxes the muscles present in the prostate gland and bladder. Thus, it helps to improve the symptoms of BPH such as increased urinary frequency, difficulty in urination, slow urine stream, etc.

Side Effects of Celeste 20mg Tablet

Reported side effects include myalgia, fatigue, pain, hypotension, palpitations, diarrhea, dry mouth, dizziness, tinnitus, and spontaneous penile erection.

Indication

Pharmacology

• Tadalafil inhibits phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) enzymes in the case of ED, leading to increased cGMP and improved erectile function.
• The maximum plasma concentration of Tadalafil is achieved between 30 minutes and 6 hours after oral administration.
• It is primarily metabolized by CYP3A4, and certain inhibitors of this enzyme can increase Tadalafil levels.
• Tadalafil is excreted mainly in the feces (approximately 61%) and to a lesser extent in the urine (approximately 36%).

Dosage & Administration of Celeste 20mg Tablet

• For ED on an as-needed basis: Typically, start with 10 mg before sexual activity, which can be adjusted to 5 mg or increased to 20 mg based on the patient's response.
• For regular PAH treatment: Take 40 mg once daily (2 tablets of 20 mg), and do not divide the dose over the day.
• If a dose is missed, continue from the next available time.

Interaction

• Tadalafil is mainly metabolized by CYP3A4; therefore, caution is needed when coadministering with CYP3A4 inhibitors.
• Alcohol consumption should be limited, as excess alcohol can increase the risk of side effects like headaches, increased heart rate, or lowered blood pressure.

Contraindications

Tadalafil should not be used with nitrates or by individuals with a known hypersensitivity to Tadalafil or any component of the tablet.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Celeste 20mg Tablet is not intended for use in women.

Precautions & Warnings

• Caution is advised when using alpha-blockers concurrently with PDE5 inhibitors, as it may lower blood pressure.
