✔️ Indications of Cavic-C Plus

• As an adjuvant to specific osteoporosis treatment
• Increased need for calcium, vitamin C, and vitamin D during pregnancy, breastfeeding, fast growth periods (in infancy and adolescence), and old age in osteomalacia
• The prevention and treatment of calcium insufficiency/vitamin D deficiency, particularly in the elderly who are housebound or hospitalized.
• As an adjuvant in the treatment of colds and influenza
• Syndromes associated with menopause
• Symptoms of menstruation
• When the body temperature is high,

✔️ Pharmacology

The calcium gluconate salt is calcium gluconate. When calcium is given orally as the gluconate salt, an element or mineral essential for optimal neuron, muscle, and cardiac function, it helps to maintain calcium homeostasis and prevent bone loss. This medication might potentially help prevent colon and other cancers.

The inorganic basic salt calcium carbonate functions by neutralizing hydrochloric acid in stomach secretions. It also inhibits pepsin action by increasing pH and inhibiting adsorption. Bicarbonate ion (HCO3-) and prostaglandin (PG) increases may have cytoprotective effects. The neutralization of hydrochloric acid results in the formation of calcium chloride, carbon dioxide, and water. Approximately 90% of calcium chloride is converted into insoluble calcium salts. (e.g. calcium carbonate and calcium phosphate).

Calcium is nearly entirely used as a pharmacological therapy for insufficiency in humans. Adequate calcium levels in the blood are so critical to a wide range of biological functions that even a transient deficit will not be tolerated by our internal biochemistry.

Because humans cannot produce vitamin C, it is an essential nutrient. It is a powerful lowering agent that plays an important part in the body's response to stress. It is critical in the battle against infections.

Vitamin D is especially crucial for bone health because it stimulates calcium absorption through the gastrointestinal system. It also encourages bone development. Clinical studies indicate that calcium and vitamin D work together to promote bone growth, osteoporosis prevention, and fracture prevention.

✔️ Dosage & Administrations of Cavic-C Plus

The dosage of Cavic-C Plus should be individualized based on the demands of the age, sex, and various physiological (pregnancy & lactation) & disease conditions. 

In general, The dosage is-

• Adults and children above 7 years: 1 Cavic-C Plus effervescent tablet daily
• Children 3-7 years: Half Cavic-C Plus effervescent tablet daily

✔️ Interaction

Patients taking thiazide diuretics should be aware of the risk of hypercalcemia since these drugs can reduce urine calcium excretion. In individuals who have been digitalized, hypercalcemia must be prevented. Certain foods, such as those high in oxalic acid, phosphate, or phytanic acid, may reduce calcium absorption. Concurrent therapy with phenytoin or barbiturates can diminish the effect of vitamin D due to metabolic activation. Oral calcium and vitamin D may improve the effect of digitalis and other cardiac glycosides. Calcium salts may decrease the absorption of thyroxine, bisphosphonates, sodium fluoride, quinolone or tetracycline antibiotics, or iron. It is advised to wait at least 4 hours before taking calcium.

✔️ Contraindications

Hypercalcemia caused by myeloma, bone metastases, or another malignant bone disease, sarcoidosis, primary hyperparathyroidism, or Vitamin-D overdosage is all absolute contraindications. It is also not advised if you have severe renal failure or are allergic to any of the tablet's ingredients.

✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation

During pregnancy and lactation treatment with Cavic-C Plus should always be under the direction of a physician. During pregnancy and lactation, requirements for Calcium and Vitamin-D are increased but in deciding on the required supplementation allowances should be made for the availability of these agents from other sources. Overdoses of Vitamin D have shown teratogenic effects in pregnant animals. Vitamin D and its metabolites pass into breast milk.

✔️ Precautions & Warnings

• Patients with mild to moderate renal failure or mild hypercalciuria should be supervised carefully.
• Periodic checks of plasma Calcium levels and urinary calcium excretion should be made in patients with mild to moderate renal failure or mild hypercalciuria.
• In patients with a history of renal stones, urinary Calcium excretion should be measured to exclude hypercalciuria.
• With long-term treatment, it is advisable to monitor serum and urinary calcium levels and kidney function and reduce or stop treatment temporarily if urinary Calcium exceeds 7.5 mmol/24 hours.
• Allowances should be made for Calcium and Vitamin-D supplements from other sources.
